| A mere hours after it had already leaked it's way around the net, Sony officially unleashes the international trailer for GB-Feig, bringing with it additional scenes and information and, sadly, splitting even more fans across the world. Many people from both sides of the argument seem to agree this trailer is better than the first, but it is not without it's own controversy. |
Sony seems to have responded to the backlash of the first trailer's intro which stated "30 years ago, four scientists saved the world". This (arguably silly compared to other raised issues) sparked an uproar from some fans, arguing the fact that Winston was not a scientist. Sony's answer seems to have been to slightly amend this statement on the new trailer to "Four friends saved the world", however, once again, this was met with some negativity amongst some Ghostbuster communities.
Other scenes that give a "4th wall' vibe is the concert clip where Leslie Jones' character, Patty, fails her crowd-surf attempt, ending with her saying "I don't know if it was a race thing, or a lady thing, but I'm mad as Hell". Nobody would be blamed to think that was a direct jab to the early backlash when the female-fronted film was first announced.
A similar moment comes near the end of the trailer where Chris Hemsworth's "Kevin" had been asked to design some logo's for the newly-established group. The result reflecting a lot of fan-made logos that swarmed the net last year.
No matter what people's opinions are, though, it seems everyone agrees - that music is awesome!
